Excerpt from Keep Moving, Creating a Life After Loss
Face the reality that life will never be the same. Rather than dwell on what is not, lean into something new. If you were like me and many of us, you compare. Last year I did this, and they will never be here to do it again.
No, they won’t! That was their last time. Instead of dwelling on it, start something new. Friday night was our hardest, but slowly we have all developed new things we do on Fridays. For me, that has evolved to doing nothing on Fridays. I am okay with that. Sometimes I will participate in things, but often I will just stay home, without feeling obligated to do anything. This has changed in the 11 years. Be aware we are continuously changing and evolving. It’s life!
Believe in yourself and know you are meant to go on with life and you can be happy.
We don’t forget about loved ones. We honour them with permission for ourselves to live.
I spend a lot more time creating memories with people. When I have the opportunity to visit them, I do that. I realize more that every day is something to be celebrated. If you were affected by a job loss, that can be so devastating. As people we take on the responsibility for it happening. Many of the job losses in my world made absolutely no sense.
